Anti-Bite
insect repellent collectionClothes repel wasps, ticks, mosquitoes and lice. Soaked in a repellant, which is certified by WHO, does not cause allergies, it is recommended by parents from Finland. Thanks to the use of a safe and biodegradable repellent, the Reima Anti-Bote collection protects children against both biting insects and harsh chemicals. Below we explain what makes Reima Anti-Bite clothes so effective against insects and how we drew on scientific knowledge when designing the new collection.
1. Gentle and non-toxic
The Anti-Bite collection uses IR3535, an insect repellent that European parents have trusted for decades. This non-toxic, colorless and odorless chemical is kind to the skin and has been approved by the World Health Organization and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to be safe for adults, children and babies six months and older. The effectiveness of this insect repellent has been confirmed by the Center for Disease Prevention and Control. Moreover, it has no harmful effects on animals or marine organisms.
2. Strong and persistent
When sprayed onto the skin, the IR3535 is effective for eight hours. It protects against various species of insects, from flies to lice. When added to fabric, it can be effective for years. The effectiveness of the insect repellent in Anti-Bite garments was rated 85 percent after fifty washes and 75 percent after one hundred washes. Moreover, mosquitoes or ticks do not become resistant to its effects.
3. Biodegradable and environmentally friendly
Unlike many other insect repellants, IR3535 is biodegradable and does not harm the environment. It is a derivative of beta-alanine, a naturally occurring substance in the human body. Its benefits are used by, among others athletes who want to increase their physical and mental performance.
4. Gentle on children and insects
Insects play an important role in nature: they pollinate plants and break down dead organic matter. Clothes from the Reima Ani-Bite collection do not kill insects and do not interfere with natural processes. They do not harm people or insects. They are odorless to humans and at the same time mask the natural scent of the skin.
We are exposed to contact with insects not only during wandering in the forest and among wild nature. In US city parks, an increase in the tick population has been observed, and therefore an increased risk of Lyme disease and painful bites. With the Reima Anti-Bite collection, insect protection is simple: just get dressed.
